Team Adventure Medical Kits Gets Wet and Wild For 24

On October 3rd & 4th Team Adventure Medical Kits braved chilly temperatures and the first rain storm of the season to finish the 2nd annual 24 hours of Whiskeytown outside of Redding, CA. Kyle Peter started the mountain bike relay off at 8:30 AM on Saturday morning. After 8 miles of single track, double track, flooded trails, and fire roads; Kyle returned from the loop in 53 minutes to pass the baton off to teammate Rene Noble and get shelter from the rain under the Adventure Medical Kits 10X10. Jonathan Greer, the 3rd member to hit the trails, finished his lap and responded with, “Wow! That is a technical course!” Indeed it was. With over 1200 feet of climbing in only 8 miles and most of it coming right at the start, the riders really had to dig deep and remember to pace themselves in order to complete the 24 hour ride. Teammates Brita Moilanen and Kipp Penovich each had their turn on the course.

At 8:02 AM on Sunday Rene finished his 5th lap giving the team a total of 21 laps completed within the 24 hours. Due to the heavy rains and demanding challenges of the course Team Adventure Medical Kits suffered several mechanical issues during the event; including damaged derailleurs, gummed up brakes, inoperable shifters, and one cracked stem.
