I’m Ian Fohrman and I’m a story teller and creator. My personal goal is to create a rich, deep experience of life that I can capture and share with images (still or moving) and words. Often times this manifests as stories for magazines or projects with like-minded companies.
I’m currently working with my partner Whit Boucher, to be the first people to mountain bike all the legal 14,000’ peaks in Colorado. Whether it’s this project, a 5 day ski mountaineering expedition, or a commercial shoot on the other side of the globe, we often have to rely only on what we’ve brought with us.
I love working with a team, especially the tribe of amazing people I’m lucky enough to work with all the time, but self reliance is a personal core value. I want to understand how the world works and be able to navigate it with the knowledge, tools, and skills that I have. There is a saying in ski mountaineering that the more you know the less you [have to] bring. While there is no substitute for gaining knowledge, it’s also important to be prepared and carry the right tools for the job. Since this kind of preparedness is such an important part of my life and work, Adventure Medical Kits is a perfect partner.
The Ultra lightweight .5 is a perfect kit for the pack on most of our day missions but we always keep a Mountain Series Comprehensive in the truck at the trail head with plenty of water, food, and a good way to contact help if necessary. If I’m heading out for multiple days I’ll usually bring the .7 kit and sometimes a Trauma Pack with Quickclot. The Glaciergel kits are great to throw in for longer multi day missions as well.
